Rapid Research

Our most recent assignment in class was to research a recent cybercrime with a partner. In order to complete the assignment we would need to answer a few questions and create a video in order to share what we learned. I was very interested in this project. My partner Josh and I researched the data breach of dailymotion.com. Daily motion is a video sharing service based in France. It is similar to youtube. During October of 2016 roughly 85.2 million email addresses and 16 million passwords were compromised. Fortunately there has not been any further security issues with the site. Frayer Models

Frayer models are a great way to organize and learn vocabulary terms. The layout of a prayer model is a slideshow. Each slide is dedicated to a particular vocabulary word. In the four boxes surrounding the word are a description/definition of the word, facts and other info about the word, an example of the word, and a non-example of the word. I find this set-up to be very helpful. It is a great study tool that allows you to quickly and easily study vocabulary.

The Importance of Computer Science

I feel that computer science is quickly becoming a necessary skill for most people in the workforce. In an age where most things are becoming digital it is time for people to know how to work with these machines. I feel that this class has so far been a great introduction into the world pf computers and computer programming. I believe that a class such as this should be required so that all students are exposed to this world that they may have not known existed. I am very pleased that I chose to take this class.

Internet Censorship

In class we were assigned an interesting project. We were tasked with researching a topic and then presenting a brief talk to the class. For my topic I chose to discuss the issue of internet censorship in North Korea. Internet censorship in North Korea is much different than here in America. I found the subject to be fascinating and chose to do extra research even after completing my project. I would highly suggest looking into the strange world that is internet censorship in North Korea. Learning Binary

One day in class that was particularly interesting was when we were introduced to binary. Binary is the number system that machines use to communicate. An example of the binary system would be that the number 7 in decimal would be 111 in binary. One way that we practiced with the binary system is by playing the binary game. The binary game was a great way to begin to understand the binary system.
